XVII National Mining Day

National Mining Day, the annual event dedicated to the valorization and promotion of mining tourism as a cultural heritage, celebrates its XVII edition this year, testifying to an ever-growing interest throughout Italy.

The initiative is promoted by REMI, ISPRA, in cooperatio with AIPAIANIMASSORISORSEG&TMASE and with the sponsorship of prestigious istitutions such as European Route of Industrial Heritage ERIHConsiglio Nazionale dei Geologi CNGEuroGeoSurveys EGS, and AMODO Alleanza per la Mobilità dolce

Also for this edition, the Day will take the form of a rich program of events distributed throughout the country, culminating in the creation of a "National Calendar" that will collect all the initiatives proposed by participating Sites, Museums and Mining Parks.

ISPRA plays an active and strategic role in the IMPEL network (European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law), with a seat on the Board and contributions to all five thematic Expert Teams: Industry & Air, Cross Cutting, Waste & TFS, Nature Protection, and Water & Land.

We are pleased to announce that IMPEL has secured over €5 million in funding from the European Commission's DG Environment for the 2025–2027 period.

Bees and other pollinators, such as butterflies, bats and hummingbirds, are increasingly threatened by human activities.

Pollination is, however, a fundamental process for the survival of our ecosystems. Nearly 90% of the world's wild flowering plant species depend, entirely or at least in part, on animal pollination, along with over 75% of the world's food crops and 35% of global agricultural land. Pollinators not only contribute directly to food security, but are also essential for the conservation of biodiversity.
