Comparison on the implementation of the National Guidelines for the conservation of Mediterranean trout and its habitat

On May 29, a meeting planned by the LIFE STREAMS Project will take place at the headquarters of the Casentinesi Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna National Park at the Park Visitor Center in Premilcuore (FC), to verify the implementation of the Guidelines for the conservation of Mediterranean trout and its habitat (Action C.5 - ISPRA Manuals and Guidelines 207/2024), in person or online.

The meeting includes a discussion with the bodies responsible for implementing the conservation measures for the Mediterranean Trout (in Annex II of the Habitats Directive, indicated as Salmo cettii) included in the aforementioned Guidelines, which were published following a public consultation process started with public meetings from May 2023 and continued with the collection of observations from the various stakeholders.

The Guidelines include measures both at the scale of protected areas or Natura 2000 Sites, and at the scale of the hydrographic basin, appropriately integrated with each other. Furthermore, the aforementioned Guidelines include indications regarding sport fishing.

The meeting program includes a brief description of the contents of the Guidelines, in particular, on the aspects relating to the threats to the conservation of the Mediterranean trout and its habitat, on the sector legislation, on the proposed conservation measures and on their implementation in the area where the species is present.
